According to the international metric standard,1 official recipe cup holds exactly 240 milliliters (mL)(although in some metric versions in Australia, 250mL is used).
Bringing Accuracy to the Measuring Cup
If the recipe calls for \"2 and a half cups of water,\" don't try to improvise. Get your scientific plastic measuring cup from the kitchen, get the number andmultiply by 240.
Example: 2.5 Cups × 240 = Put exactly 600 mL of water in your container and your recipe will be perfect!
