Brazilian commerce uses the percentage discount as a powerful marketing tool. During Black Friday periods, it is very common for stores to raise the prices of products in the previous week and then apply a fake 50% discount.

How to calculate in your head?

If you are on the street and need a quick calculation without our calculator: divide the percentage by 10. For a 15% discount on R$ 200, first calculate 10% (which is 20 reais). Then, take half of that (5%, which is 10 reais). Add the two (20 + 10 = 30 reais). The discount is R$ 30, so the price drops to R$ 170.
