Discover the real chances of an event happening.
How to calculate the probability?
Probability is a branch of mathematics that measures the chances of a specific event occurring within a set of possibilities. The basic calculation divides the number ofFavorable Events(what you want to happen) by the number ofPossible Events(the grand total).
Example 1: Rolling a Die
A traditional die has 6 sides. If you want to roll exactly the number \"4\", you have 1 Favorable Event (the side with 4) in a universe of 6 Possible Events (all the sides). If we put this into the calculator, we will find that the chance of success is16.66%or 1/6.
Example 2: Deck of Cards
A deck has 52 cards in total, with 4 Aces. What is the chance of drawing an Ace randomly? The Favorable Events are 4. The Total is 52. Entering it into our calculator, we see that the chance is only7.69%(or an irreducible fraction of 1/13).
