What is the Weighted Average?
Unlike the simple average, where all values have the same importance, in theWeighted Averagesome values \"weigh\" more than others in the final result.
How is the calculation?
To perform the calculation, you must multiply each value by its respective \"weight.\" Then, you should add all these results and, finally, divide this sum by the total sum of the weights.
- School example:A student got a grade of 7 on an assignment that had a weight of 2, and a grade of 9 on the exam that had a weight of 3. The calculation would be: (7*2) + (9*3) = 14 + 27 = 41. The sum of the weights is 5 (2+3). So the average will be 41 / 5 = 8.2.
