When you type your password into a bank, it does not save the word in the database. It transforms the word into a \"Hash\", a huge string that works like a one-way street (it's easy to generate, but mathematically impossible to reverse). We use the SHA-256 algorithm, the same ultra-secure protocol that powers Bitcoin.
